Co-Future: Practices and Reflections on Collaboration and the Future of Dance
What is the future that we wish for? How will we continue to create and dance in the future? What should we give up and what should we keep in order to realise that future? Our talk is an invitation to reflect on this and other questions that arise when we imagine the future of dance and, above all, its sustainability over time. In Latin America, creation and management go hand in hand as most of the region's dancers are also cultural managers. The precariousness of our sector and the adversity with which we work due to lack of resources has generated these hybrid profiles. Many must manage not only their resources but also the spaces for dance.
For years we thought that the hybrid work of creators and dancers detracted from the sector's professionalism, but over the years, we have discovered that this is our strength and our wealth as we have learned to work collectively. We have discovered the importance of community, co-management and collaboration, the fundamental actions to build a future. After the pandemic and the current war, we can no longer think about the future individually. The force is collective and we believe that the future is only possible collectively, the future is "Co-future".
