Dancing Conversations - Meeting Adrián Arriaga Madrigal
Dancing Conversations is a workshop-series of Tanzkongress 2022, that offers an insight into individual physical practices of dancers. Each session starts with an interview of an invited dancer, where they answer questions on what is driving their own practice; what it focuses on and what it wishes to share. This will be followed by a physical exploration of their particular practice, before finishing with a collective reflection and exchange between the teaching dancer and the participants about their shared experience.
Adrián Arriaga Madrigal developed his practice as a proposal to challenge the participants through exploration, playful dynamics and conscious mobility work. The class has an open structure and is composed of several work axes. First it seeks to use play as a tool for imagination, as well as for the physical dynamics of interaction. The next stage is to create awareness for the anatomical characteristics of alignment which are specifically focused on acrobatic research. Finally, in order to rethink approaches and starting points of creative processes, the participants will work with movement sequences and apply principles developed throughout the workshop. Considering the different physical possibilities of each participant, this practice aims to prevent injuries during acrobatic training. One of its goals is to incorporate play as an essential part of any training and to share the technical principles and Adrián’s vision of acrobatics, gymnastics, capoeira and interpretation work. This workshop is open to all those with dance experience.
