Present Developments in Asian Contemporary Dance - A Snapshot
Curators Gwen Hsin-Yi Chang and How Ngean Lim invite the audience to an open forum on recent and urgent developments in Asian contemporary dance and physical performance. This is based on their experiences as producers, curators and dramaturgs. With a launchpoint of their curatorial rationale for inviting dancers from Thailand, Taiwan and Indonesia, this session hopes to address who else and what else has been left out of their selection for Tanzkongress 2022. The absences must be given space to perhaps unfold the larger picture with regard to aesthetics, politics and the sociocultural. They want to shed light on more emerging choreographic practices that stretch from Japan to India. They end with a hope to prospect what can be next for dance artists and the dance field in the vast and equally diverse geopolitical area known as Asia.
