Who Is in Charge of This Dance? - Views on Responsibility
As dancers, choreographers, directors and other stakeholders in the dance field, we encounter the complexity of responsibility in various situations, hierarchical structures, professional relationships, work contexts and methods. What responsibilities do I take on and which do I share with others? Where does responsibility and power come together? What are ways to re-think and renegotiate responsibility? How does this relate to the shaping of realities within the dancefield and the wider society one is living in?
This session offers an individual and collective exploration of the theme ‘responsibility in dance’ and how it is taken and shared for example in relation to leadership, accountability, expectations, community or empowerment. Three invited speakers will share prepared expressions on this topic. Afterwards, Efva Lilja will guide a writing session, offering the opportunity for the participants to discover, question and articulate the characteristics of their own responsibilities. This session will close with a group exchange about the contributions of the speakers and the different individual findings of the participants.
